Ch\u00e2teau Saint-Maur Cru Class\u00e9, located in the heart of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, has begun a massal selection process in the heart of its emblematic plot, Capelude.<\/p>

This 13-hectare parcel, which rises to an altitude of 440 metres on the hills above Collobri\u00e8res, is facing the Gulf of Saint Tropez <\/b>and the majestic Chartreuse de la Verne. It is planted with Proven\u00e7al grape varieties<\/b> red and white, giving rise to the emblematic gourmet cuv\u00e9e Le Clos de Capelune<\/b> AOP C\u00f4tes de Provence Cru Class\u00e9.<\/p>

Le Rolle grape variety<\/b>the king of Provence whites, reigns supreme here, producing refined, powerful wines. These vines, which have adapted perfectly to the terroir, are an integral part of the heritage of the Ch\u00e2teau Saint-Maur Cru Class\u00e9 vineyard.<\/p>

This is why Patrick Galliano<\/b>the estate's technical director and oenologist, wanted to propagate these particularly high-quality vines in order to plant 4 additional hectares<\/b> of Rolle on the vineyard.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Massal selection, an ancestral technique<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Mass selection involves selecting the best vines<\/b> of an old vineyard with the aim of perpetuating the diversity and quality that has been created over time. This ancestral technique preserves the genetic diversity of the plots and allows us to select the vines best suited to the terroir.<\/p>

The grafts were selected and taken when the Rolle grapes from the Capelude plot were pruned in winter 2024, then sent to our wine nursery in the Vaucluse. He was able to propagate them by grafting<\/b> on 110 RICHTER quality rootstocks. These new plants will be grown by the nursery until spring 2025, when they will be planted in the heart of our vineyards.<\/p>

We look forward to seeing these new Rolle vines enrich our terroir and continue to produce exceptional wines that embody the essence of Ch\u00e2teau Saint-Maur Cru Class\u00e9.<\/p>
