The union of Château Saint-Maur Cru Classé and ORAÉ gallery takes a fresh look at contemporary art in the heart of Provence's vineyards, between heritage and innovation.

"ESSERE is Latin for "to be". The exhibition invites us to slow down, observe and feel. It asks how we inhabit the world: how can we be fully present to matter, to the Earth and to ourselves?

A sensory immersion in the heart of the elements

From 15 September to 02 November 2025more 500 m² The three-storey exhibition space is transformed into a contemplative journey. Works by the Franco-Italian artist Lucia Sellier vibrate to the rhythm of the estate's light, revealing textures and shadows like living breaths.

Trained as an interior designer, Lucia reinvents tapestry by assembling fabric scraps collected from publishers, recycling centres or gleaned at random. Each fragment carries a memory, a colour, a vibration. Reworked into vector drawings and then superimposed layer by layer, these materials become abstract landscapes, both delicate and engaging.
The graphic precision is in dialogue with the fragility of the fabric; the balance, always unstable, opens up a space of intimate projection where everyone is free to invent their own narrative.

Lucia Sellier - Sensitive materials, silent memories

Along the way, the light, the viewing angle and the passage of time transform the surface: the materials come alive, vibrate and change their appearance. "ESSERE celebrates this mutability and reminds us that "to be" is to remain awake, connected to what surrounds us.

"I weave my landscapes like a link between myself and the world. Each material has a story. By reassembling it, I seek a fragile and silent balance", confides Lucia Sellier.

A not-to-be-missed event in Provence

In the heart of the sun-drenched vineyards, the Château Saint-Maur and ORAÉ offer a sensory and poetic experience. "ESSERE is a plunge into the depths of being, an exploration of ephemeral beauty and our responsibility to the Earth. A suspended moment, to be experienced between late summer and gentle autumn in the setting of Cogolin.
