Le Clos de Capelune: The summit of Provence
The magazine Winegrower devoted a detailed report to our estate and to the famous parcel of Clos de Capelunelocated in Collobrières. A unique method and a bottle that breaks the mould
The uniqueness of Clos de Capelune doesn't stop with the vines. Patrick Galliano explains the winemaking method, which is similar to a 'mille-feuille' of grape varieties (Rolle, Grenache, Syrah) pressed in layers in a vat cooled with dry ice, like a 'cold water infusion'. This approach produces a wine that is both silky and complex.
The aesthetics of wine are as bold as its taste. Its black bottle has been chosen to surprise and set itself apart. "Everything about its definition, its aromatic signature and its style shows that it's different," insists the winemaker. Marc Monrose. A far cry from summer rosés, Clos de Capelune is a wine of character, designed to "hold its own with food and wine" and to be a seasonal wine.
With only 6,500 bottles and 1,500 magnums produced each year, Clos de Capelune is a rare cuvée. This exclusivity, combined with its singular style, has propelled Château Saint-Maur onto the most prestigious tables around the world, from the George V in Paris to Michelin-starred restaurants in Tokyo. It's a perfect illustration of the estate's ambition: to create wines that are luminous, elegant and made to last.
